However, Illfonic deemed the claims that it had split development resources away from Friday the 13th incorrect and that support for the game was only increasing. Its role as developer for Dead Alliance had been no secret, with the game being officially announced in May and Illfonic’s logo prominently displayed. More than that, Dead Alliance’s development had started even prior to Friday the 13th’s and Illfonic says Friday’s development hasn’t been affected.

Here’s a portion of the statement released by Illfonic head Charles Brungardt:

Dead Alliance is planned to release on August 29 for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Much of the issue likely stems from ongoing frustrations within the Friday the 13th community over perceived apathy from the game’s developers. Complaints regarding server issues, console patches, Kickstarter rewards, and assorted other things persist, though Illfonic’s done much to rebuild trust in the community since launch. Nevertheless, negativity in a community is a hard thing to improve once its taken root. That hasn’t stopped Illfonic from doing what it thinks is best for Friday the 13th, however.

Brungardt went on to detail how the Friday the 13th development team was increasing in size rapidly, to ensure the game’s future is successful:

The takeaway is, as usual, that confusion led to some poor assumptions being made and that the situation is much more positive than anyone might have been expecting. Even that much wanted Xbox patch for Friday the 13th is in the process of getting stress tested and an announcement should be forthcoming.

Friday the 13th is available now on on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
