This particular revelation comes directly from an announcement Sony made on its official blog, with the company also using its post to confirm the three other titles joining LittleBigPlanet 3 and Not a Hero for PlayStation Plus’ free games for February on PS4. For those unaware of the two major featured titles’ releases, though, LittleBigPlanet 3 launched back in 2014, while Not a Hero came out in 2015 on Android and PC, and was released on PS4 and Xbox One last year.

As it happens, Breakfall’s Starwhal, Tribute Games’ Ninja Senki DX, and FullPowerSideAttack.com’s TorqueL round out the list of games available for this month alongside LittleBigPlanet 3 and Not a Hero, bringing the lineup to a total of five titles in all for Sony’s current generation platform. Of course, PlayStation 4 fans won’t be the only ones getting free games this month, with PS3 owners able to grab the Extended Edition of Dreampainters Software’s Anna and Starwhal, and with Ninja Senki DX and TorqueL being available for PlayStation Vita.

For the sake of full clarity, it must be mentioned again that only those who are using the PlayStation Plus subscription service with an active membership will be given access to the free content for February. As of now, a 12-month membership will set fans back $59.99, while three-month plans cost $24.99. Should there be fans out there looking to go the monthly route for PlayStation Plus, Sony charges $9.99 per month.

Considering the generally positive critical reception that both LittleBigPlanet 3 and Not a Hero received, this month’s selection of free PlayStation Plus games contain some pretty solid choices for members of the service. Our review for LittleBigPlanet 3 praised the game for its impressive visuals and dedication to the franchise formula, and we came to the conclusion that Roll7’s Not a Hero “offers a fantastic, fluid and vibrant indie challenge full of bizarre humor.” Bearing all of this in mind, it would be hard to get upset at receiving a slew of free games in the first place.

The free PlayStation Plus games for this month become available next Tuesday, February 7, 2017.
